some of you may have seen an account on FB, going by the name of 김미지, who claims to be Rap Monster’s little sister, and an account claiming to be Rap Monster himself—and they have a bunch of fans convinced that it’s the truth. well, it’s not, and the way the “sister” in particular is behaving towards fans on FB does have the possibility to damage Rap Monster’s reputation if left alone. that’s why I (with the help of some others) are asking for help in reporting these accounts.
I want to state upfront that I don’t care who the people behind the accounts are. I don’t know their names, I don’t know where they live, I don’t know if they’re two separate people or just one person with a lot of free time. and I don’t want to know. it’s not a vendetta thing. I’m just an annoyed fan who thinks these kids are taking it too far.
I also have no issue with roleplaying as idols on FB, as long as it’s obvious that you’re roleplaying. it might not make a lot of sense to international fans, but things like this can really tarnish an idol’s image, whether or not they were directly involved. if enough people believe that this account is Rap Monster’s sister, it has the potential to reflect negatively on Rap Monster. their objective really does seem, at this point, to be to convince fans (mostly international fans, so far, and mostly non-Korean speaking ones) that they are the real Rap Monster and his real younger sister.
this might seem like a lot of internet sleuthing, but truth be told it was about 30 minutes of Google. (actually, this writeup took more time than the searching…) I’m at the stage where I’m like, “okay, little girl, you had your fun, now time to shut right on up,” but I thought I’d share with the class.
if you like a good debunking, keep on reading!
